Shop, Store, or Dispensary?

Did you know that identifying as a ‘dispensary’ is not allowed by recreational retail cannabis shops in Ontario?

Ontario wanted to ensure clarity around legal Cannabis, so they determined that a dispensary might be confused with a place to obtain legal medical cannabis, much like a pharmacist dispenses medication.

Identifying as a retail cannabis shop, or a recreational cannabis store are important distinctions from dispensaries.

More interesting… two of the top three search terms used in Google were “dispensary near me” and “dispensary”… if the public is identifying stores as dispensaries, maybe its time to be transparent about the terminology difference.
