It was never about cannabis…

We’ve found our way through our first year in business, and have made so many new friends and connections along the way. From our modest beginnings with a couple of dozen products on our shelves and personal friends generating our revenue, to ‘regulars’ that have become friends and a boutique-style shop with a curated collection of cannabis, I humbly thank you from the bottom of my heart.

For those new to our community, I wanted to properly introduce myself, and The Dime on Wortley.

My name is Jen, I’m the Owner & Founder of The Dime on Wortley, a warm and welcoming cannabis shop in the heart of Wortley Village in London, Ontario.

I am a Registered Nurse & Educator and spent the majority of my healthcare career working within our local hospital system to find myself unfulfilled and dissatisfied at the end of a decade. When I stripped everything back I knew that relationships with others and creating a welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental community are the things that brought me joy.

You see, at the core, this was never really about cannabis.

Shocked? Don’t be.

I love cannabis, but even more than my love for the plant, I love what it can do for people and that innately there is a welcoming culture and community that come along with it.

We live in a world where cannabis continues to have societal stigma despite legalization. Decades of prohibition, the identification of weed as a harmful substance, and pot being labeled as a gateway drug have fueled this stigma and continue to do so. I'd found my passion in the middle of this space of community, culture, acceptance, and stigma. Education, research, and evidence are the tools I use to break down negative assumptions, create an atmosphere of safety in uncertainty, and to embrace all who visit this store - whether you choose to consume cannabis, or not.

With this as my mission, The Dime on Wortley was born. You won’t find sales tactics here. You won’t find people trying to convince you to do or believe in anything you don’t want to.

You will find friendship, commuity, and a space where your questions are heard with warmth and understanding.

Everyone has their own reasons for consuming cannabis (or not). Whether for pleasure, pain relief, mindfulness, or any other reason, we are here for it. And for you.

I’m excited to see what 2023 has in store for us, and am thrilled to share this ride along with you.

With gratitude always,

Jen
